PALS now offers discovery and access for digital resource sets by loading them directly into MnPALS Plus, bypassing Aleph.
As part of this service, PALS will load complete sets of records for digital resources into MnPALS Plus and provide unique URLs for each library as needed for authentication, adding proxy strings and account information as required. These record sets will be kept up-to-date by PALS and will not be loaded into Aleph unless needed for inclusion in commercial discovery systems.
Digital Sets we are currently loading:
The cost to subscribing libraries is $300 annually for each of these record sets:
Films on Demand
Alexander Street Press
EBSCO Academic eBook Collection
We also have digital sets that we will load for you at no charge:
NEW: Minnesota Ebooks
NEW: University of Minnesota Open Textbooks Ebooks Collection
NEW: National Academies Press Free Ebooks
MN Legislators: Past and Present
EBSCO Ebooks (NetLibrary books purchased for MN libraries by Minitex)
PALS will provide development for other record sets upon request.
Advantages of loading sets through this service include:
These records will not be in the Aleph bib count and will not be counted in the User Fee calculations.
Individual libraries will save time and effort by not having to load, update, and correct records.
Records will be discoverable in MnPALS Plus.
Records will not be duplicated in the MnPALS “All Libraries” search.
Please note: digital resources in which titles are individually selected and where the content varies from library to library cannot be handled in this manner and are not within the scope of this service.
