The Authorities Task Force and MnPALS Indexing Task Force were merged with each other on October 28, 2016.
The MnPALSCataloging User Group established the Authorities Task Force to examine authorities functionality in the MnPALS implementation of the Aleph System, both in the current version 15.5.2 and in version 17.01. The task force shall look at linkages between bibliographic records and authority records, display of authority information, authority field tag terminology, and other issues related to authorities. It shall also review the database of authority records that were rejected during loading (SYS19). The examination shall incorporate as appropriate the MnLINK acceptance testing scripts that already have been developed for authority issues.
The MnPALS Indexing Task Force addresses issues and problems resulting from current indexing, and recommends appropriate changes and actions (in consultation with the MnPALS Access Task Force as appropriate) for discussion and approval by the MnPALS Consortium. The Indexing Task Force works closely with PALS technical staff to examine and test the indexing tables of versions 16 and 17 for migration in 2006/2007.
The work of the MnPALS Indexing Task Force includes:
Ongoing examination and identification of problems that exist or occur, to improve indexes and to achive desired outcomes of the consortium
Evaluation, enhancement, expansion, or deletion of existing indexes and creation of new indexes for improved access for patrons and library staff
Reviewing, discussing, and accepting recommendations from MnPALS libraries that are proposed to the user groups for approval and implementation by PALS support
