The most requested feature for MnPALS Plus and PALSdiscover has been some way for libraries to track their users. PALS staff have implemented the open source software, Piwik, to give libraries the opportunity to track user statistics.
Piwik Features PALS is using the Piwik software for tracking statistics. It is open source software with a many features, including:
Many standard statistics reports classified into four main analytics report categories: Visitors, Actions, Referrers and Goals/e-Commerce. There are over 30 reports to choose from.
Real time data updates: Watch real time flow of visits to your website. Get a detailed view of your visitors, and the pages they have visited.
Customizable Dashboard: Create new dashboards with widget configuration fit to your needs.
Request your library’s Unique URL and access to Statistics today! In order for a library to track their library users’ statistics, PALS will need to set up a unique URL (also called a virtual host) for your library’s instance of MnPALS Plus. Your virtual host will be the URL used by your library's patrons for accessing MnPALS Plus instead of https://mplus.mnpals.net/ -- You can use your library's 3 letter PALS code: ihc.mplus.mnpals.net or spell out your library or institution name if you like: metrostate.mplus.mnpals.net
Any library running PALSdiscover already has this unique URL for your instance, and PALS has been collecting statistics for a few months already. You will want to make sure all your library’s links to MnPALS Plus and PALSdiscover point to your unique URL, both for using the library catalog (Books and More) and the Summon knowledge base (Articles and More).
