Reports Task Force Report – Randi Madisen (CEN)

Randi summarized the committee’s ongoing activity for 2008 – 2009 which is also available on the Task Forces page of the MnPALS site. The group has been meeting on usually a bimonthly basis. Requests for new reports can go on the MnPALS forum, with the group using conference calls for review and decision-making.

6. PALS Work Plan to Strategic Plan

MnPALS Director Stephen Elfstrand addressed this topic at the lunch-time General Session.

7. Aleph Privileges for Student Workers – Dan Honetschlager (PALS)

Dan noted that there are a wide range of options for defining student workers' Aleph privileges and that colleges’ practices vary considerably. This is a potential subject for a Spring 2010 Workday.

8. Workday Planning

Michael Kirby (DCT) and Ruth Anderson (MHS) have suggested a possible workday with the Reference User Group. Assembled group offered and discussed several potential Spring 2010 Workday topics.

• Student Worker Privileges Set-up
• Fines and fees tables definition
• Macro Express Training – Michael Johnson, U of MN, is available for assistance.
• LDAP Authentication Orientation and related issues (STAR ID impact, alternatives to EZproxy server, best handling of multiple system identities or roles, affinities definition)

Definite interest in a workday, with possible Reference or Circulation User Group’s partnership, was evident. The group favored a February date if possible.
