MnPALS Technical Services Report: April 2009System news and work completed
- Upgraded to version 19 on production on March 21, 2009. Overall, the process went smoothly with only a few minor bumps along the way.
- Ordered RAM to upgrade servers.
- Wrote custom programming to restore a couple of fields that were accidentally clobbered by a circulation process in the Oracle z68 Order table for NDC.
- Changed the update process for MnPALS Plus from once a day to four times a day.
- Loaded March Marcive records for libraries that subscribe to the service.
- Attended the Reference Users Group workday.
Work in progress
- Ongoing system maintenance and upgrades.
- Attending Indexing Task Force meetings.
- Attending the PALS Communication Team meeting.
- Continuing to work on PALS Support Center tickets. An influx of tickets have been related to version 19.
- Continuing to work with the UNIX system monitoring software. Working with the student systems administration assistant to learn and work with Nagios.
- Continuing to perform weekly updates to the Authority database on the production server.
- Working on SQL reports and services.
- Loading PromptCat records for Minnesota School of Business (MSB).
- Working on custom programming to add the 035 field with the OCLC number to records identified by St. John’s University (SBJ).
- Continuing to work on MnPALS Plus and VuFind. Working on recommendations from the Discovery Tool Task Force.
- Distributed the Discovery Tool software package to ODIN. Received a full database record extract and loaded it. Waiting to hear from them to complete the configuration process.
- Will be ordering a new server for MnPALS Plus.
- Preparing to upgrade Solaris on Alto and Tenor within the next two weeks. Downtime will be minimal.
- Working on creating a backup server/zone for CUFTS and GODOT.
- Moved z39.50 target for Aleph ILL locates between TdS and MSU and GRRL system and SCS into production.
- Created the A-Z list in GODOT.
- Will be attending the Koha Conference 2009 in Plano, Texas from April 15 – 17, 2009.
- Will be attending the Evergreen International Conference 2009 in Virginia in May.
