MnPALS Technical Services Report: March 2009System news and work completed
- The past month has primarily been dominated by preparing for the final version 19 upgrade on March 22, 2009.
- Performed a version 19 upgrade on prod19.
- Installed an upgrade patch to ORACLE on prod18 and dev18.
- Installed rack for the x86 Linux servers.
- Set up three new Linux workstations.
- Updated the z16 subscription and z68 order tables on February 22, 2009. Changed the z16_copy_to_date and the z68_subscription_date_to from 12/31/2010 or greater to 12/31/2025 as requested by the Acquisitions/Serials User Group.
- Loaded February Marcive records for libraries that subscribe to the service.
- Refreshed the database on dev18. The data is current to the 3/7/09 production backup. The OPAC will be redirected while we upgrade to version 19 this weekend.
- Created new Help for the new priv-xx services on version 19.
Work in progress
- Ongoing system maintenance and upgrades.
- Attending Indexing Task Force meetings.
- Attending the PALS Communication Team meeting.
- Continuing to work on PALS Support Center tickets.
- Continuing to work with the UNIX system monitoring software. Working with the student systems administration assistant to learn and work with Nagios.
- Continuing to perform weekly updates to the Authority database on the production server.
- Working on SQL reports and services.
- Loading PromptCat records for Minnesota School of Business (MSB).
- Continuing to work on MnPALS Plus and VuFind. Working on recommendations from the Discovery Tool Task Force.
- Distributed the Discovery Tool software package to ODIN. It is up and running. They sent a sample data file with approximately 100,000 records. We are waiting to get a full data file yet.
- Updated Aleph table for version 19 new functionality.
- Updated all of the custom services to version 19 functionality on prod19.
- Updated the service menus in version 19 on prod19.
- Set up TdS as a z39.50 target for Aleph ILL locates between TdS and MSU. Created the set up for z39.50 target for Great Riverland Regional Library System for Aleph ILL locates between GRRL and SCS. Plan to move both to production next week.
- Enabled the z39.50 functionality in GODOT which is the open source open URL linker for the CUFTS database. z39.50 local holdings and union catalog holdings searches is working.
- Searching in Ebsco and will link to GODOT.
- Working on the setting up GODOT and the ELM databases starting with ProQuest and Gale.
- Working on creating the A-Z list in GODOT.
