Aleph

Acq/Serials

  • Two documents have been updated in the documentation for Acquisitions and Serials. You can find these on the documentation page [1] under PALS created documentation
    • EDI Invoicing with EBSCO and Aleph
    • Downloading from Books in Print to Aleph
  • Century College has begun to use the Yankee GOBI product with Aleph Acquisitions
  • Answer 3335 has been added to the PALS Answer Book. The answer shows how libraries can get a printed columnar report from their holding records by using the ret-03 Retrieve Records Using CCL and the print-08 Print Holdings Records from the SYS60 library. This is especially helpful if you are looking for a list of Title, ISSN, and Summary Holdings of your serial titles.
  • Encumbering of Serial Orders and Standing Orders (acq-06-b). When running the acq-06-b to encumber your serial or your standing orders, the amount that becomes encumbered is based on the dollar amount that is in the previous encumbrance. The amount can be changed either before or after you run the acq-06-b by updating the local price field on Tab4 of the order record. After updating the price field, check to make sure the encumbrance amount changed correctly. Most all of you have already run this service for this year, but keep it in mind for next year. One of our libraries reported that they had changed the local price before running the service and some of the orders encumbered amount changed correctly and some did not. It may have been related to insufficient funds in the budget record.
  • The serial-44 Claim Report is a report in Aleph that sorts on Title. Previously this report did not ignore articles (The, A, An). This has been fixed and the report now sorts correctly providing the Bib record 245 field has the proper nonfiling character in the second indicator.

General

  • Custom Services Reports in Aleph - Previously in Aleph the custom reports (priv-##) that were written by the PALS office did not sort correctly by Title. Any of the reports that sort by title now ignore the beginning articles (The, A, An) providing the Bib record 245 field has the proper nonfiling character in the second indicator.
