Acq/Serials
- The New Titles mnpals-14 report has been revised to pull by Arrival Date instead of Order Date. The report pulls on any monograph order that has an arrival date that matches the dates entered in the report request form. The report can be found in Acquisitions/Serials | Services | Retrieve and Print Acquisitions Records | New Titles mnpals-14.
Cataloging
- Global change to bib or holding record. PALS is contemplating allowing libraries to make global changes to their bib or holding records. Discussion started on the Cataloging Forum at http://forums.mnpals.org/index.php?topic=737.0
- Automatic creation of holding and item record being tested with Minnesota State University/Moorhead. Read more about this in the Fall 2008 User Group Support/Cataloging Report linked at http://www.mnpals.org/pals/reports/200810support_ug.pdf
- Local Serial Holding records (LHRs) to OCLC. Arrow down to this session which was held on Wednesday, October 29, at 3:00 p.m.
- A full re-index, both keyword and browse indexes,of the database will occur the latter part of November. These are the dates:
- Re-index the development server (dev18.mnpals.net), which means the dev18 server will not be available during the time period of November 22 (Saturday) through November 28, 2008 (Saturday).
- The development server will be copied onto the production server (aleph.mnpals.net) the morning of November 29, 2008 (Sunday). It should be up and running by noon that day. Watch for a notification from the PALS office stating when it is again available.
Circulation
- Special Circ status of "Lost" relabeled to "Overdue/Billed" in GUI and Web OPAC.
- Task force formed to update MnPALS Libraries Circulation Policy
Course Reserves
- TYP of <Print Book> has been removed from the Course Reserve Bib Records as their titles appear in the results list of the WebOPAC.
- Loading electronic reserves to Course Reserves workflow. Knowledge Base #3284.
- Courses with the Period of NA should be suppressed from the WebOPAC view. Why aren't they? Knowledge Base #3283.
- A Course Reserve Breakout session was held at Fall 2008 User group. A link to that session is on the PALS homepage/Fall2008 User group http://www.mnpals.org/sections/ug2008fall_main.html. Once at the link go to the Course Reserve session on Thursday, October 30th, 11:00 a.m. 4 documents that we used in the session are linked there. They are: 1) Course Reserves Q&A Breakout session, 2) Course Reserves Period NA, 3) Fixes for Course Reserves (ELUNA), 4) Solution/workaround for Docs on Multiple Courses.
ILL

- ILL staff can register for ILL2 Q & A session to be held on Monday, November 24 2:00-3:00 pm.

Inventory Management

Once at the link, arrow down to the Inventory Management Breakout Session. It was held on Thursday, October 30, 2:00 p.m. The documents used in the session are linked at this site.
OPAC
- Aleph Web OPAC Changes discussed at User Groups:
- Reconfiguring the OPAC display to look more like U of MN. Where author and title were first, location in the middle.
- Some concern about putting title at top; keep availability close or else prominent somehow.
- Vote: the vote favored keeping it the way it is currently in the Aleph Web OPAC.
- 880 tags
- Foreign language script will be displayed as well as transliteration in the bib record. It will only pertain to records with that information added (foreign language titles).
- Vote: Add into bib display.
- Display 866 867 and 868, 538, 506, 843, and 845 on Holding page
- Motion: Perry will do them on test server so people can see, discuss and vote.
- Google books link.
- Voted to have open a new page.

- 18 sites "Live" on EZproxy, we have 6 sites that are building their web pages. 8 sites are still on the list to work with. 2 "New" sites to return contracts before work begins.

- Recent fixes implemented:
- Add deletion of records to daily update
- Create mouse over for subject links
- Similar items - if library selected, limit to library
- Arrange date facets in date order
- Series links - fix so number isn't included
- VUFind has modified word stemming to not stem authors and publishers
- Update advanced search page
- Fix Advanced search page to handle library selection
- Link to Classic MnPALS keyed on library selection
- Link to Ask a Librarian keyed on library selection

- Dan Honetschlager, Systems Users Group and the Reports Task Force to create a document describing which ALEPH reports to run to obtain information for the ALS reports. The Fall '08 Systems User Group requested that training be held in February on ALS reports. Follow-up training in March.
