DNS changes for version 19 OPAC
From: Rod Bruce UNIX System Administrator
MnPALS Consortium Libraries,
We have sent several messages over the last few months regarding changing DNS references for harp.msus.edu to aleph.mnpals.net. We've delayed the change until mid-April to wait until after version 19 was up and running a couple of weeks.
However, we have discovered that many of your DNS entries (see the list at the bottom of this message) are pointing at an ip address and not a name. That ip address (199.17.248.200) still points to version 18 of Aleph and that is something that we cannot easily change.
The consequences of this are that many of your Aleph Web OPACS are still pointing at version 18 and will continue to point at version 18 until your DNS maintainer makes the change listed below. As a temporary fix we have forwarded the version 18 web server to the version 19 web server; however, patrons will only be able to get to the union catalog and not your individual library catalog.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:
Contact your DNS maintainer and have him or her change your DNS entry from:
mnpals IN A 199.17.248.200
to:
mnpals CNAME A aleph.mnpals.net
(NOTE: your exact entries might vary from what is listed here).
WHO NEEDS TO DO THIS:
Here is the list of names that resolve to 199.17.248.200 and therefore need to be changed (updated April 2, 2009):
- mnpals.dunwoody.edu has address 199.17.248.200
- mnpals.jjhill.org has address 199.17.248.200
I apologize for the inconvenience of this. This is something that we should have caught earlier.
