MnPALSMnPALS is a complete library automation system, offering web access to the information resources of all libraries that use the system. All students and faculty, patrons and staff, can access MnPALS, not only through computers found at the participating institutions, but also through internet access at any time from wherever they may be. The system also includes automated acquisition and circulation of materials, cataloging, booking, and serials management. A key feature of the MnPALS system is its interlibrary loan feature, which allows patrons to easily obtain materials from other consortium libraries and beyond.
MnPALS uses the Aleph system from Ex Libris, which runs on servers at Minnesota State University, Mankato. All operational sites are connected to the MnPALS server in Mankato through a statewide telecommunications network.
PALS operates and maintains the MnPALS servers, and provides support and training on the use of the software. We serve a consortium of more than 70 libraries throughout the state of Minnesota. See Consortium of MnPALS Libraries for more information on the libraries we serve and the governance structure of the consortium.
