Indexing Task ForceEtablished: October 26, 2004 by the Cataloging User Group
Charge:
MnPALS Indexing Task Force addresses issues and problems resulting from current indexing, and recommends appropriate changes and actions (in consultation with the MnPALS Access Task Force as appropriate) for discussion and approval by the MnPALS Consortium. The Indexing Task Force works closely with PALS technical staff to examine and test the indexing tables of versions 16 and 17 for migration in 2006/2007.
The work of the MnPALS Indexing Task Force includes:
- Ongoing examination and identification of problems that exist or occur, to improve indexes and to achive desired outcomes of the consortium
- Evaluation, enhancement, expansion, or deletion of existing indexes and creation of new indexes for improved access for patrons and library staff
- Reviewing, discussing, and accepting recommendations from MnPALS libraries that are proposed to the user groups for approval and implementation by PALS support
