Consortium of MnPALS Libraries Participant ChargesEffective February 7, 2008
1. This statement is subject to annual review prior to the start of a new fiscal year.
2. Cost factors affecting the schedule of charges will be analyzed by the PALS staff and reviewed by the Executive Committee on or about February 1. The charges will be changed as needed on the basis of this review.
3. Notice of any change in charges will be mailed to each of the member libraries after review and prior to the start of a new fiscal year. No notice of change will mean continuance of the same schedule of charges in the next fiscal year.
4. Schedule of charges:
A. Products from the bibliographic database such as bibliographic lists, database extraction, etc., which require special setup.
Charge of $225 per hour for personnel time; actual costs of production if an outside agency is involved; costs for supplies (such as tapes); plus shipping fees.
B. Loading netlibrary bib records. Charge per administrative unit is $300 for initial load, $100 for subsequent loads.
C. Loading MARCIVE records.
Charge to be determined based on availability and method used for loading.
D. Loading other records.
Charge to be determined.
There will be a setup fee plus a charge per record loaded.
E. Programming or consultation by PALS staff.
Charge of $150 per hour.
F. Extraction of bibliographic records.
Charge of $500, regardless of the number of records.
G. Global changes to bibliographic or holdings records.
Charge of $350 if the library does the p-ret-03 or CCL to identify the records.
Charge of $500 if PALS staff does the p-ret-03 or CCL.

H. Batch deletion of bibliographic records and all records linked to them.
Charge of $100 if the library does the p-ret-03 or CCL to identify the records.
Charge of $250 if PALS staff does the p-ret-03 or CCL to identify the records.

I. SQL requests and reports
Charge of $200 plus $150 per hour for each hour after the first one.
J. Reports run by the PALS staff from the Aleph Reporting Center.
Charge to be determined.
K. Training, instruction, and consultation for one library; includes new training, retraining, and refresher classes. Limit of 10 students per class. On-site: Charge of $900 per day, plus travel expenses. At the PALS office in Mankato: Charge of $600 per day.
Web training available upon request for some sessions; charge to be determined.
L. Group training for multiple libraries; includes workshops, retraining, and refresher classes. Minimum of 5 attendees. Charge of $100 per person for one day; $150 for two days.
Web training available upon request for some sessions; charge to be determined.
M. Proxy Server. Charge of $500 for setup, $600 annually for maintenance and support.
N. Inventory Equipment. PT2000 with a tethered wand: $1339
PT2000 with a tethered laser: $1459
Support and maintenance costs after the first year: $225 per year.
Rental costs: $125 per week or $325 per month.
5. Schedule of charges for new consortium libraries:
A. Bibliographic data load (merging, editing, and loading initial database from OCLC or LSSI records).
Charge of $.04 per record, plus a $1500 setup charge, plus vendor costs. Additional charges will apply if special database programming and/or handling is necessary to convert records to an acceptable format for loading. Records must be in MARC standard format.
B. Training.
Charges as described in 4.K. above.
6. Charges for libraries that leave the consortium will be in accordance with each library’s contract terms. In the event that a library does not have withdrawal costs specified in their contract, the following charges will apply.
Charge of $225 per hour for personnel time for each extraction of records.
Charge of $.03 per record for each bibliographic, patron, holding, item, order, course reserve, vendor, or interlibrary loan record deleted from the MnPALS system. For any library that leaves the consortium, these records must be deleted. This activity and charge is mandatory. If records are extracted and deleted, both charges apply.
