EBSCO is working with over 5000 connectors (Proquest, Gale, etc.) They are working with databases that only allow limited numbers of users per institution to allow more users. MnPals Plus (Evan Rusch MSU, Mankato) and WorldCat Local (Dave Wuolu CSB/CSJ)WorldCat.LocalGet 3 links, can put your logo on page, Local library shows first, then Minitex, then world. Working on solving problem of too many hits-system picks a title-user needs to click on view of all editions. This is not intuitive. Problems for researcher on location of book is at St. John's or St. Ben's if they do not click all editions. MnPALS PlusOne item to improve is publication data. MnPals Plus stems words so anime goes to animal and audition to audit. It is a right hand stem. Relevance currently weighted to title and author. It is possible to have a search weighted to subject. Facet order can also be adjusted; tagging feature has been implemented, and PALS is looking at a mobile display that looks better on mobile devices like Blackberrys. The MnPALS Plus Work Group will use the Forums for comments and announcements. MnPALS Plus is updated 4x a day. Stephen showed a new Firefox add-on; MnPals Plus can now be set as the default search box in the Firefox toolbar. Simply go to MnPals Plus, then click on the Firefox search box drop down, and choose "Add..MnPals Plus." Progress Updates and Group DiscussionSyndetics gives book reviews and covers; the PALS office will share the slides that were presented CUFTS is a knowledge base, monthly updates, 475 full text resources/databases. Several libraries Link resolver benefits-increase use, collection development, can track use, compare coverage between databases. An open source is Canada, GODOT, from Simon Fraser University in Burnaby British Columbia, Canada. The advantages of Open Source, more control, able to customize code, and license fees.
