David Barton, former PALS Director, passed away on June 14, 2012. His obituary can be found on Legacy.com.

Prior to coming to PALS, Dave had served as director of the Viking Library System and CLIC.

Dave served as PALS Director from July 1995 to August 2001, leading our staff through the transition from developing and supporting the PALS software, into migrating the PALS libraries to the Aleph software.

Dave left PALS in 2001 to become Director of Metropolitan State University's Library and continued to participate in the MnPALS Consortia.

At his request, there will be no public services. Memorials are suggested to the Metropolitan State University Foundation-Barton Gardens, or to the Nature Conservancy.
