Database Access When and Where Your Users Want It

The needs of today’s patrons extend beyond the library’s walls.
EZproxy allows patrons to access your electronic resources from anywhere, at anytime.

What is EZproxy? What is it Used For?

EZproxy is a simple rewriting pass-through proxy system designed especially for libraries. The server is located at the PALS office and maintained by the PALS staff.

If you have patrons who are off-site and would like access to your on-site-only (e.g., IP-restricted or passworded) journals, databases, and full text retrieval systems, then EZproxy may be your solution. Patrons will use their barcode and password to authenticate against the MnPALS Library system. Once verified, they can go from site to site without having to "log-in" again.

EZproxy is a remote access solution. You identify the URLs to interface with EZproxy, then insert the EZproxy converted URLs into your local web pages. The patrons simply select the URLs on your local web page, the same way they would go to URLs on any normal web server. EZproxy then acts as a portal, relaying the patrons on to the vendors’ web sites.

There is no special client software to install and no need to reconfigure either the browser or the operating system.
