Aleph ILL
Aleph Interlibrary Loan Begins February 27, 2006
February 24, 2006 |
A group of MnPALS ALEPH libraries will begin to use ALEPH Interlibrary loan to accept interlibrary loan requests from their patrons and exchange interlibrary loan requests using ALEPH interlibrary loan beginning on Monday February 27th.
The libraries are:
- College of St. Benedict & St. John's University
- Gustavus Adolphus College
- Minnesota State Law Library
- Minnesota State University, Mankato
- Riverland Community College
- St. Cloud State University
- South Central College
At the same time the MnPALS libraries go live, MINITEX will also begin using Aleph ILL to process ILL requests with the initial seven libraries. MINITEX is on the University of Minnesota server as processing requests as the University of Minnesota for items owned at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and as MINITEX the last resort library.
Everyone will see some changes to the MnPALS OPAC Union View on Monday. These changes are listed below with a screen shot showing the page as it will appear on Monday.
- The Interlibrary Loan request link from a bibliographic record will be made more prominent for all patrons. In the screen shot below, ILL Request is now visible on yellow-green bar between the header and the body of the record. This will allow patrons from the first group of MnPALS ALEPH ILL libraries to request materials.
- If your library is not yet using ALEPH interlibrary loan, the result of clicking on the ILL Request button on the yellow-green bar will be a dialogue box that redirects your patrons to a WebPALS book or journal blank form. After your patron completes the appropriate blank form, the request will be sent to your PALS ILL Message File.
- The blank ILL request form on the MnPALS Union View will be moved from the header (the first dark blue line where it now exists) to the Your Borrowing Record page (the yellow-green line between the header and the body where it will exist on Monday). If your library does not accept ILL requests using ALEPH ILL, your patron will be redirected first to the dialogue box described above, then to a blank WebPALS form that will be sent into your PALS ILL Message File.
